The controversial posts from the artistes happened on the same day that fellow Dancehall artiste Konshens posted a throwback clip from an Onstage TV interview featuring himself and Masicka.
In the caption, Konshens reminded fans of his early support for the 'They Don't Know' deejay, writing: "When mi deh all inna a party an see di dawg song dem a shell it PROUD!!" The post highlighted Konshens' role in helping Masicka's rise through interviews and collaborations.
Either shortly before or shortly after, Vybz Kartel shared a photo on his Instagram Story showing himself shirtless, holding a bottle of rum, with a bottle of champagne on the table in front of him.
The caption read: "THE DELUSION OF THESE DANCEHALL ARTISTES AND THEIR FANS NEEDS TO BE STUDIED. #kingofdancehall #goat." The post quickly stirred speculation that Kartel's comments were aimed at Masicka.
In what appeared to be a response, Masicka shared a clip of rapper Mase discussing generational differences, in which Mase remarked: "When you are dealing with older people, they are the last to know that things have changed… I wanna respect you but I can't."
Both artistes deleted their Instagram stories after they began circulating widely. However, Masicka went on to post a tweet that read simply: "Youth dem time now."
The exchange has reignited online debates over Dancehall's current hierarchy, with fans divided between veterans like Kartel and newer acts like Masicka. This is not the first time the two have subtly traded words, suggesting a quiet rivalry that continues to capture the attention of Dancehall followers.
