While neither artiste has made any direct challenges or called each other out by name, fans believe there are clear signs that something may be brewing between them. The talked about signs include subtle references in their lyrics, the timing of their releases, specifically snippets of unreleased music online and indirect comments that seem aimed at each another.
The possible tension between Malie Donn and Chronic Law is believed to have started during Malie Donn's performance on August 3rd at the "Chug It" event held at Sugarmans Beach in Portmore.
During his set, Malie Donn took a moment to address artistes who were once affiliates of fellow Dancehall artiste, Squash. During his speech, Malie Donn specifically called out artistes who were once part of Squash's 6ix camp but eventually went their separate way.
He also mentioned that Squash would soon be released from prison, warning that this would create problems for those who chose to switch sides. Many fans believed at the time that he was taking aim at the 'NY Girls' deejay.
"From wah day mi see some man a diss offa di 6ix, p*ssy memba a 6ix di whole a unnu used to seh. True 6ixboss deh a jail mi see everybody a switch, but 6ixboss soon come a b*mbocl**t road and unnu head aguh bounce inna real life."
In what seemed to be a response just days later, Chronic Law made a statement of his own during a live performance. He made it clear that he does not believe in sending subliminal messages and prefers to speak directly if he has an issue.
He also mentioned that he invests in firearms, not for show, but to be prepared if any feud ever goes beyond music. His comments only added more tension to the situation, with some fans now convinced that a clash between the two could be on the horizon.
"Mi nuh throw shades and mi nuh wear b*mbocl**t shades. Anything unu feel like unnu waa do unnu dweet, memba mi invest inna gun more dan how unnu invest inna business."
Weeks after his stage statement, Chronic Law posted a snippet of an unreleased track on his Instagram page, which quickly caught the attention of fans. Some of the lyrics in the preview were seen as direct, and many listeners believed they were aimed at the 'V6' hitmaker.
"Broke bloodcl**t bwoy fi do better, you a bang too long fi nuh have nuh house nor land. Memba di crown (car) cyaa sleep inna, designer clothes cyaa nyam."
Just a few hours after Chronic Law's post, Malie Donn responded with a snippet of his own, also shared on his Instagram page. One particular line stood out to fans in which stated that he does not tolerate people who are quick to switch sides. He also took shots at Chronic Law's recent performance speech by questioning why he feels the need to buy guns.
"Wah dem a buy gun fa? Nah kill nobody but yuh like tough chat, cyah rate no switchy switchy bwoy no sah."
In the snippet he also confirmed he is the owner of a 'Crown' motorvehicle which many believe is also a response to Chronic Law's snippet.
What adds another layer to the situation is the fact that Malie Donn and Chronic Law have worked together before. They collaborated on tracks like 'Reprisal' and 'Rifle Behavior' when both were seen as part of, or closely linked to, the 6ix camp. Because of that history, many fans are now left wondering what could have caused the fallout between them.
Fans from both sides have been actively sharing their opinions, with many debating whether the lyrical clash has already begun or if it is still in the buildup stage. The speculation is only growing, as supporters continue to monitor both artistes for any new cryptic posts or subliminal lyrics that could potentially result in a full-blown clash.
