DJ Quik has thrown some shade at his fellow West Coast legend, Dr. Dre.
On X, a fan wrote: "DJ Quik is actually who everyone thinks Dr. Dre is."
Quik then responded to the post, commenting: "Finally. Someone had the balls to say it."
Dre has yet to respond to the comment.
It is not the first time Quik has put himself on the same pedestal as the NWA co-founder.
Back in 2022, he said: "I know it's early. But I deserve to be where Dre is. I don't think it's fair, but I understand why. I've never had a machine behind me, that always hurt my friends more than it did me."
He added: "This doesn't need to be on a podcast. Because you have fire starters, who want to spin everything to get more ratings. But the truth is: I love Dr. Dre, like a big brother, one I never had. It pains me when people pit us against each other."
Quik also said: "I know I'll never be as popular as I need to be, but I have 10s of artists superstars. And when they shine, I just smile. The janitor doesn't get all the glory, but he keeps the backstage, clean as a triage."
Despite his contentious comments, Quik and Dre are friends with the "Tonite" star present when the Aftermath Entertainment head received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year, which was fittingly placed next to Snoop Dogg's.
Quik has also been picking fights with Instagram, recently threatening to sue the social media platform for allegedly violating his rights.
Da Quicker said (on Instagram): "I think the time has come for me to file a class action lawsuit against this and other social media platforms for violating my first amendment rights. I said what I said. And after, close this account altogether."
However, he appeared to back down on his legal action shortly afterwards, saying: "My lawyer just told me I'm wasting my time on Instagram."
The legendary producer did not divulge how he thought Instagram had violated his first amendment rights which is freedom of speech.
